Bron Breakker: Emerging

Sometimes a painting exceeds my expectations, and this debut piece of Bron Breakker did just that. I went in with the concept of doing something with the pattern of his gear as a more flat design contrasting against a more realistic approach to his face and physique.
So I went with the idea of him emerging from a chaotic technicolor sort of power, using colored ink and liquid acrylic for the pattern and watercolor and ink for his skin. As I was applying the pattern colors I was quickly thinking, "Oh, this one is going to be something special, isn't it?" and by the time I finished the piece I really felt like it exceeded all of my hopes for the painting.
