Ink, marker and watercolor on 17" x 14" bristol board

As soon as Cameron Grimes became a millionaire I knew I needed to capture this moment and sometimes the most obvious idea is the one to go with. I've been doing more illustrative things lately and the challenge of faithfully recreating a hundred dollar bill but with Grimes' face on it sounded like a lot of fun. Getting all of the little bits as right as I could was a big challenge but I'm super happy with the results.
Then, stylistically trying to match the cross-hatching techniques used for currency but doing this for Cameron Grimes was also a challenge. There's probably a thousand lines I put down to make this with a variety of differently-tipped pens to get the look right. It's completely out of my comfort zone but that's the point, right?
