Every year I do a WrestleMania painting and this year's is the main event match between Bianca Belair and Sasha Banks! As soon as the match was made official I knew it was what I was going to do.
Through a variety of circumstances, this is the first large (40" x 30"!) acrylic painting I've done in two years. For the past few years I've been working smaller, so doing a big painting like this not only works different creative muscles, but physically different muscles. Instead of minute movements of my fingers and wrist, I'm moving my whole arm and often my whole body to get the right look. It felt good stretching them out again.
Between the color palette, the emotions surrounding the match, and the overall energy of the piece I feel like it's among my best acrylic paintings to date.
