Select Series Wave Thirty: All-Undertaker Edition!
Ink and watercolor on watercolor paper
Artwork by Rob Schamberger
For the first time ever, I've made an entire Select Series Wave focused solely on one person, and that person is the Undertaker! With his induction to the WWE Hall of Fame I thought it was perfect timing to pick some of his looks from over his decades of destruction to paint. First up is the way-rad masked look that was super fun to paint. I mean, it's pretty much the Phantom of the Opera as a cowboy wrestler, how can it not be rad?
Next up is the Ministry of Darkness-era Undertaker, when the character was really leaning into the supernatural side of his persona, as some sort of evil wizard that shot lightning bolts and hung people from giant metal symbols. Of course, I had to include the biker era, when he returned from some time away riding a giant motorcycle and making his victims famous! Rounding out the wave was after he re-emerged as the Dead Man, combining everything from the past and going on to really cement his legacy at WrestleMania each year.
As a little continuity between these paintings, if you notice the background goes from purple, to purple and blue, to blue and grey and finally to dark blue with black. Just a little wink from me to you.
