After Shinsuke Nakamura's incredible outing in the gauntlet match recently I decided I needed to do a new painting of him. He's one of my favorite subjects to paint, so it's not like I really need an excuse!
Visually, speaking to Nakamura's entrance music 'Shadows of a Setting Sun' I used the colors one would associate with a sunset. Lots of oranges fading into a deep red and violet for the deepest shadows. The downward-angling lines are reminiscent of speed lines as you would see in illustration, but done with a more painterly approach because this is, you know, a painting.
