Inspiration can come from unexpected places.

When Drew McIntyre started carrying a sword during his entrances, I immediately started thinking about doing a Frank Frazetta approach. When I think of Frazetta, I gravitate towards his Conan work. Right around that time I was reading a big collection of Conan comics, notably the ones painted by Greg Ruth. I thought his color palette and energy would be absolutely perfect for Drew, so that's where I wound up.

It's purposefully not made obvious, but I added in the element of Scottish warriors charging in behind McIntyre. The swords and the silhouettes are there if you take a moment to look. I feel it speaks to his Scottish heritage and the aura around him as an in-ring competitor.
